NEWARK, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Only two weeks remain for local community leaders and high school counselors to nominate high school juniors or seniors in Delaware for a $25,000 Bridging the Dream Scholarship from Sallie Mae, the nation’s saving, planning, and paying for college company. Counselors and community leaders can complete the application at SallieMae.com/BridgingTheDream now through Sept. 27. One of the $25,000 scholarships is reserved for a student in Delaware, home to more than 950 employees at the company’s Newark and Christiana locations.

The ideal candidate should be a Delaware high school junior or senior who excels in academics, athletics, community service, or school activities, but whose financial circumstances or other obstacles in life may not allow him or her to pursue a college education. The simple nomination process requires two, 200-word essays that highlight contributions inside and outside the classroom and any issues that may prevent a student from attending college.

“Delaware is home to remarkable students who are aspiring to turn the dream of college into a reality,” said Martha Holler, senior vice president, Sallie Mae. “Over the next two weeks, we urge our local high school counselors and leaders throughout the community to nominate a deserving student, and together, we’ll help make college happen!”
